But why is it so hard to find good reports?

It seems like a simple formula. Write a good report. Design it well. What's so tough about it?

Good writers are slowly becoming extinct. With the advent of ChatGPT, people have become lazy with writing. Why bother writing when all you need is to ask the right question to ChatGPT? Why bother learning how to find good stories? Just prompt ChatGPT!

Technology like Canva has narrowed the gap between experts and non-experts, democratising the access to tools that the layperson can use to make 'creative' works. But it also means that we find it tough to find meaningful content that is well thought.

People have shorter spans of attention to concentrate on a full report. After all, when a distraction is a click away, it can be tough to concentrate on a well-written, long-form report that has insights you can take away. Why bother reading when there's exciting TikTok?

Then we come to the agencies responsible for designing these reports.

Why are they so hard to find?

Finding good agencies are tough. Mindbendingly tough. Yes, even tougher than finding your partner 

Most design agencies focus on the surface, and not the writing 

Agencies will show you a lot of nice designs, but when you read into what they have written, it simply isn't something you want to keep reading.

Most agencies aren't the content experts

The problem is that most agencies do not have technical writers. They only have generic writers which are good at everything, but cannot go in-depth into any particular topic to share new insights about the topic. 

It's hard to differentiate between Canva and expert designers

When everyone on Fiverr is offering you a designed report they can do on Canva, it's hard to tell the difference with someone who's professional and has been trained in design. Especially when Canva offers you a drag and drop option for $12 a month. Why bother paying thousands for better design? 

Why we bother with this

I'm John.

Someone once told me that starting a design agency was the most stupid business idea I ever had. I had been stupid enough to sell coaching and counselling, earning no more than $60. Now, I was trying to sell into an even more crowded market of design agencies. Why? 


In December 2015, I was suicidal, depressed, and close to ending my life. I didn't know what else to do with my life, and thought it would be better to just end it. I couldn't study what I wanted.


Then I met Daniel Wong. He passed me his book. That book changed my life. 


And since then, we've always believed in the power of content to change people's lives. 


That's why we do this. 

Because well-written, and well-designed content, gives people a better how-to, for life.

Life is confusing, and that's why we need better content. Here's how.
